The Scene of an Ambulance Sale

An Ambulance Sale is not the kind of thing that swings by so much, so it would be helpful to already know just what you’re looking for in order to take advantage of such sales when they are available.  This is important since an ambulance sale isn’t some ordinary sale, where multiple copies of merchandise are on hand – an ambulance sale often involves used or reconditioned vehicles, of which there is only one or two available.  (New factory-fresh ambulances are unlikely to be “on sale” simply because there’s no reason for them to be – you want it new, you pay top dollar; that’s all.)

So to be prepared to take advantage of the odd ambulance sale that comes rolling periodically, you truly ought to have already done your homework, as it were.  This means easy but often overlooked common-sensical approaches like determining the exact conditions under which your vehicle would serve.  Ambulances used in rural settings, for instance, can expect a lot more wear-and-tear than those deployed in urban environments, because of the better quality of city roads, generally speaking.  Vehicles designated for rural roles should also be more robust and more capable, and these models are typically more expensive, with extra components like attachment points for heavy-duty towing or hauling.

Of course, they will eat more gas, due to being substantially heavier.  So will green technologies be important to you?  Newer advanced materials can be lighter while still maintaining structural integrity.  And speaking of structural integrity, in-depth research is very much needed, such as a visit to a manufacturing facility, to get a good sense of a particular model’s construction.  Governmental rules regulating structural integrity are so meaningless in the United States that even simple crash tests aren’t required!

Which brings us to another typically overlooked matter, that which involves safety factors built into the vehicle.  How is equipment to be secured in the patient compartment?  Where are the duty stations for emergency personnel located?  Vehicle occupant safety is fast becoming an increasingly important selling point, despite all the increased costs involved.

Yes, costs: ultimately, it all comes down to price-points – how much you can afford.  What is spent will definitely have an impact on the features available to your ambulance, though some features purport to pay for themselves with enough time, such choosing an engine powered by gasoline over a less expensive old-fashioned diesel one (which, by the way, will one day be phased out by new fuel efficiency regulations).
